Top 50 Firm Announces Plans to be the Most Flexible Workplace in the Profession

SAN FRANCISCO, September 30, 2021BPM LLP, one of the 50 largest public accounting and advisory firms in the country, today announced the creation of its “Virtual Region” to further its commitment to being an agile, competitive, and best place to work. Edward Webb, partner in the Firm’s Advisory practice will serve as Partner-in-Charge of the Virtual Region.

“The ‘Virtual Region’ comes in response to our growth and the realities of the modern workforce,” says Webb. “We recognize the transformation taking place in the way our colleagues want to work and how they want to work – the Virtual Region – is where we want them to meet.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), only 20% of United States workers are currently in physical offices five days a week. As a result, the Firm is creating a virtual experience to provide a means of sharing information, facilitating collaboration, and offering leadership resources to its hundreds of employees throughout the United States.

“Now is the time for open innovation,” added BPM CEO Jim Wallace. “Our goal is to become the most flexible workplace in the profession. If the current pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that people are hardwired to connect. That’s why we’re looking to create a virtual region by design, not by default.”

The Firm continues to push the envelope when it comes to thinking outside the box. Earlier this year, BPM expanded its leadership team by naming Lindsay Stevenson Chief Transformation Officer, a role dedicated to harnessing innovation and driving positive change. Nearly seventy percent of its Corporate Service Team Leaders are in geographic regions where the Firm does not have a physical office.

“We are still figuring things out but are excited about the opportunities this presents for our growth trajectory and our colleagues,” added Chief People Officer, Rob Blasi. “We remain committed to an inclusive workforce that allows us to recruit and retain the most talented colleagues from all backgrounds. By embracing a virtual work model, we’re working to ensure all of our colleagues have equal access to professional growth, regardless of where they’re located, while still fostering the in-person interactions that reinforce team building and cross-functional visibility.”

This year, BPM celebrates its 35th anniversary.
