Whitepaper - BPM and IoT

This BPM.com white paper examines the role of BPM software in enabling physical “things” to be connected to digital processes in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT), exploring both the required capabilities for the next generation of BPM platforms as well as the benefits offered by BPM+IoT.

The theme at this year’s World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos, Switzerland was “Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution” - recognizing the massive transformation currently underway centered on what has been labeled “Industry 4.0” representing the emergence of ubiquitous computing through cloud, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT). As described by the WEF executive briefing, IoT represents a transformation on the “scale, scope and complexity unlike anything humankind has experienced” because it will touch virtually every aspect of our work and home environments, ultimately affecting nearly every industry in every country.
