34 New-Name Customers and 158 Percent Product Sales Increase over 1H 2010
RESTON, Va.—July 25, 2011—Appian, the global innovator in enterprise and cloud-based business process management (BPM) software, today announced strong growth through the first half of 2011. The company signed 34 new-name customers across government, financial services, healthcare, energy and other industries. Sales orders for the Appian BPM Suite grew 158 percent over 1H 2010. In addition to large on-premise software deals, Appian continued its dominance in cloud BPM, with Appian Cloud orders growing 181 percent over 1H 2010.
Appian’s 1H 2011 new-name customers included commercial industry leaders across financial services, energy and healthcare. Appian also added several new government customers, expanding its list roster to more than 30 federal departments and agencies. These customers chose Appian for its unrivaled combination of ease-of-use and innovative capabilities, including comprehensive native mobile BPM and social BPM collaboration.
The Innovation Leader – Cloud, Mobile and Social BPM
Appian is long-established as the leader in cloud BPM, offering a complete BPM Platform-as-a-Service and easy migration between cloud and on-premise environments. Appian Cloud offers rapid deployment, no up-front investment, no IT infrastructure requirement, and reliability and security that can be tough to match by even the best internally managed environments. In its October 2010 “Magic Quadrant for Business Process Management Suites” report, Gartner states that Appian “sets the bar for BPM in the cloud.”
In February 2011, Appian brought to market the industry’sfirst native mobile BPM capabilities. In June 2011, Appian announced mobile BPM enhancements including Mobile Image/Document Capture, Mobile Tasks, Mobile Security, Private-label Branding and more. Mobile BPM is a major game-changer, expanding process participation across the organization, its supply chain and out to customers.
In 1H 2011, Appian was also the first BPM vendor to harness social collaboration technology in a business process context. Appian utilizes familiar social tools and interfaces to drive collaborations that are directly tied to business events and outcomes.
These three BPM technology innovations are the same inflection points driving enterprise IT as a whole. “In 2011, we expect to see transformative technologies make the critical transition from early adopter status to early mainstream adoption,” said Frank Gens, senior vice president and chief analyst at IDC. “This next dominant platform is characterized by mobility, cloud-based application and service delivery, and value-generating overlays of social business and pervasive analytics.”
In 1H 2011, Appian and its customers received numerous accolades from industry thought-leaders. FSO Knowledge Exchange named Appian the premier BPM vendor for driving financial services transformation in its 2011 Excellence Awards. Appian was also named a finalist in the prestigious Red Herring Top 100 North America Awards. Two of Appian’s marquee customers received significant industry recognition for the success of their BPM programs and the value they have delivered to their organizations. Global IT Analysis firm Gartner, Inc. honored Appian customers UPS and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) in the Gartner, Inc. 2011 BPM Excellence Awards. In addition, UPS won the “KM Reality 2010” award for a deployment that has improved operational efficiencies, enhanced customer service excellence, and generated significant cost-savings. Late in 2010, NSN was also named winner in the Global Awards for Excellence in BPM and Workflow 2010.
“Appian is leading the evolution of BPM software to drive a new level of enterprise transformation and value,” said Matt Calkins, President and CEO of Appian. “This commitment to BPM innovation is the reason for our continued growth and our global customers’ remarkable success.”
