Workpoint, a leading provider of business process management (BPM) technology, announces its full upgrade to the Microsoft® .NET 3.0 framework. Workpoint is a comprehensive BPM solution that coordinates all aspects of a process—people, rules, tasks and systems—into a cohesive whole. To date, Workpoint is the only BPM solution with two native engines, offering both a native Microsoft .NET version and a pure Java™ J2EE version. “With the upgrade to the .NET 3.0 framework, Workpoint has been redesigned and re-implemented as a service-oriented application,” said Ruth Nimrod, chief technology officer at Workpoint. “The .NET 3.0 framework also allows Workpoint to leverage the Managed Code programming model, which lends itself to seamless and secure communication benefits.”
The new release also utilizes Windows Communication Framework (WCF) to configure and expose services, which can be consumed by any compatible client. Workpoint also provides a standard proxy client that is categorized by function for easy integration. “Improvements in areas such as installation, performance and scalability are direct benefits in this new release,” said Nimrod.
The latest version of Workpoint also delivers on industry demands, offering several significant enhancements, such as seamless customization to its BPM visual interface. Workpoint also offers a new event framework that can notify outside entities about events, such as orchestration state changes, generated milestones and library modifications. Additionally, process models and executing instances can now easily attach an XML schema, enabling an executing instance to retrieve information from within the associating DOM or business object.
“In this release, we maintained a tight focus on delivering both customer requests and industry demands,” said Nimrod. “With Workpoint’s full upgrade to the Microsoft .NET 3.0 framework, enterprises can ultimately leverage the next generation of BPM.”
